A fireplace, a bread oven or an incineration chamber quietly destroys ordinary mortar: past certain temperatures the Portland binder degrades and the work crumbles. Refractory mortar, formulated on aluminous cement, withstands temperatures up to 1,500 °C and beyond depending on grade. It is a specialised technical product — and to be upfront: DAM does not sell refractory cement; our Lassargua plant (Dakhla) makes grey CPJ 45 and CPJ 55.
Where common Portland cement draws its strength from calcium silicates, aluminous cement (also called fondue cement) rests on calcium aluminates. Its alumina content (Al₂O₃) sets the grade and the service temperature: the higher it is, the hotter the mortar holds. That alumina content structures the whole market — refractory mortar is bought by grade, not as a generic bag.

In 1 T big bags, count 6,500-12,000 DH/T depending on quality; ready-to-mix refractory mortars (cement + aggregates) sell at 12-20 DH/kg. These are market indications: go to specialised distributors for firm pricing.
At home: fireplaces and stoves, bread and pizza ovens, masonry barbecues. At industrial scale: boiler flues, process ovens, incinerators, flue ducts. In every case the first heat-up must be gradual — controlled drying of the mortar conditions its later performance; follow the product's data sheet.
