Big Bag vs 50kg Bags: Which Packaging to Choose?
by Dakhla Aménagement Team

The choice of cement packaging is a practical and economic decision that directly impacts the organization of the construction site and construction costs. Dakhla Aménagement offers three formats: 50 kg bags, Big Bags of 1 to 1.5 tonnes, and bulk. Each has advantages and disadvantages that should be carefully evaluated before ordering.
The 50 kg bags are the most common and practical packaging for small and medium-sized construction sites. Easy to handle, they allow precise dosing and can be stored in confined spaces. Their main disadvantage is repetitive manual handling, which requires two workers per bag and generates risks of back injuries. The packaging cost adds about 30 DH per tonne to the price of cement.
Big Bags of 1 to 1.5 tonnes offer an excellent compromise for medium-sized construction sites. They require lifting equipment (crane, forklift) for handling, but considerably reduce the number of unloading operations. A 1-tonne Big Bag replaces 20 bags of 50 kg, dividing handling time by 20. The surcharge compared to bulk is about 80 DH per tonne, but the investment in a silo is not necessary.
In summary, for small construction sites and renovation work, 50 kg bags remain the most flexible solution. For medium-sized sites with lifting equipment, Big Bags optimize logistics. For large construction sites, bulk remains the most economical and efficient solution. Do not hesitate to consult our team to determine the most suitable packaging for your project.
